Well, hello Mrs. McMahon!

There's lots to love about working with laptops in the classroom this year.

    * The kids get excited to try new things
    * I am finding meaningful applications
    * I have tremendous support from the volunteer scheduled on that day
    * I learn something new every time and that's really cool
    * I am open to the possibilities that haven't even revealed themselves yet.

So although we only get to bring them in for less than an hour each week, it is time that's full of potential as well as a nice change of pace. It is also helpful having one per child. I know you are using an interactive white board this year. We don't have one but my volunteer has helped me through the projector and adapter issues. When a bug comes up (and that's pretty common) she can figure out what needs to change. I bet this is what a Tech. Integration Specialist must do at other schools.(?)

Thanks for the comment. BTW How's the hockey season going?

Yeah, how exciting to have laptops in the classroom. Congratulations, I know technology can be a handful of work for the teacher, but the kids love it! Thanks for all you do for the little ones.

Thanks Mrs. McMahon. My sister shared it with me and I just loved it. I also recommended it to our phys ed and music teachers who will be collaborating once a week. I see that you have already enjoyed it there. The kids really want to join the dancers.

Loved this on Oprah. Our KDG class went to the gym and played this loud and showed off our "moves", the shyest little boy danced the hardest! Great idea to post on your blog!

We enjoyed a wonderful Open House last night which was live streaming on USTREAM It was a very successful night and the children did a fine job touring the school with families. It promises to be a great year!

What beautiful, happy, smiling children! We always tell parents on Back-to-School Night that it's a privilege to work with their children. Your slideshow reminds me of this.

Hi Joanne,
It’s always a pleasure to hear from you! Lets put our thinking cap on and get something going between our classes. You have a good idea there. Let’s start with something simple, maybe a Skype call. (Did I just say a Skype call was something easy?!) Then we can exchange something of ourselves maybe with a VoiceThread. We’ll see. I look forward to getting through the first few weeks and then we’ll be rolling along.

The work you are doing through KidsAreHeroes.com is helping to make our world a better place. I will be interested to see how this daily exposure to heroism plays out at the kindergarten level.
