It’s amazing what children will think of when you give them some die cuts, paper bags, and markers. These treat bags held lots and lots of shared treasures. Thanks everyone; you made our party just awesome!
When we weren’t snacking or making our goodie bags with Mrs. Boutilier, we were working on some math activities. Today we did Inventory Bags, Build It, and math workbook pages. We even had a fire drill and Grade 5 Reading Buddies! Now that is a really Fun Friday!
We also enjoyed this site this week. It is a video from Oprah with very lively audience partition to go along with it. It was posted on Facebook so you may need to login yourself or through a friend.
We love to go out for recess and the weather has been splendid! Many children head for the swings as soon as they arrive on the playground. It reminds me of a poem we will illustrate come springtime by R L Stevenson, The Swing.
The Swing
How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!
Up in the air
and over the wall
Till I can see so wide,
Rivers and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside-
Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown-
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!
The following video was taken after these girls asked me to make a movie of them. They had been exploring the shells and sorting them in a number of different ways. Since language skills are a big focus in kindergarten, I am always happy to put their skills to work by formulating their thoughts and ideas into a story.
